earlier, a conversation like this transpired…

her: あさみ、良い香りだね。
me: … (i was in the middle of processing what she was saying and the mind reader that they are, she asked again)
her: this morning, you have fragrance that is good
me:　本当か
her: うん、パフューム？
me: いいえ。
her: 本当？そうですか。
me: たぶん、その香りはクワバラ‐さんの。。。
her: ああ、そうですか。
me: はい。that is lotion…

im sure it wasn’t me because i didn’t bring my body sprays even if i wanted to.  i thought it wouldn’t be necessary coz people here aren’t into perfumes and colognes.

however Butch (her name is actually Kuwabara-san we call her butch because she reminds us of Butch Salem), has this victoria’s secret lotion that smells like roses.  whenever she applies that, dvd and i jabber each other and make up stories like maybe, she’s going on a date again.  i love the scent of her lotion, makes me miss my pear glace body splash at home. 

anyway, what puzzles me is if my seatmate, hioki-san, referred to the rosy smell, or she actually asked about MY smell.  i mean, you’d have to smell nice in the morning right.  it would be weird if we don’t smell good after a shower. 

then it occurred to me that the japanese are not used to taking showers in the morning.  they rather take hot baths before going to sleep and not shower the following day.  as for us, it would be impossible going to work without a shower.  add to that, the weather here now does not induce sweat even after a 30-minute walk.  so when we arrive in the office, the scent remains.

so maybe that was what she smelled, the fresh scent of a newly-showered person.  hahaha.  the next time she’d ask, i’d say “nah, i just shower everyday…” 

but that might be offensive, implying that they on the other hand do not take a shower that’s why they don’t smell that nice.
