it was painful – watching her like that, forcing that smile to reach her eyes. but it was more painful – watching the people around her not notice.
it isn’t, not anymore
“That’s when I finally got it. I finally understood. It wasn’t the thought that counted. It was the actual execution that mattered, the showing up for somebody. The intent behind it wasn’t enough. Not for me. Not anymore. It wasn’t enough to know that deep down, he loved me. You had to actually say it to somebody, show them that you cared.”

masochism isn’t something new
“Human beings are funny. They long to be with the person they love but refuse to admit openly. Some are afraid to show even the slightest sign of affection because of fear. Fear that their feelings may not be recognized, or even worst, returned. But one thing about human beings puzzles me the most is their conscious effort to be connected with the object of their affection even if it kills them slowly within.”

i call them roses
two springs ago, when i first saw these flowers, i immediately commented “how beautiful roses they are!”. but when i went closer, i realized there aren’t thorns.
in my home country, flowers are expensive accessories. because unlike in japan where they seem to grow anywhere, flowers back there are sold. and tropical countries can grow a limited number of varieties.
so when i first saw these camilias, i honestly thought they were roses.
